This is expected from Google after the problems that occurred with Oracle because of the language of Java. Google is now going to follow the steps of Apple in this area to be away from all issues of intellectual property, whether in the system itself or its own application programming language. That's why Google has also announced another system that may replace Android, and it is strange that it will be built on a special kernel of the development of Google itself.
Kotlin is a developer of Jet Brains, the same company that developed Android Studio, an open source programming language that is fully compatible with the JDK development package. It allows you to write fewer programming lines than Java.
Of course this language is not new and has been available for years, but has not been supported by Google. But now it is the official language supported by Google to develop android applications.
